Today’s post is another “How To” post, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I caption my Instagram posts and I figured a blog post would be perfect for explaining.

Disclaimer: I’m NOT a pro, i just know what I know through long hours of reading different articles and helpful posts/tips from people as well as conducting different experiments myself. I can rate myself a 7/10 at least so I’m just going to pass on the little I know.

So now how to create amazing caption(s)? Let’s get started with that;

1. Questions

Ask questions, questions increase engagement. When you ask questions your followers answer them, thereby increasing your engagement. But don’t do this ALL the time and don’t over do it.

Also keep it simple and ask questions that everyone can relate to, I’m going to take a wild guess and say you don’t want audience only from your country? Good, so ask questions that everyone can answer e.g what are you up to? Do you like XXXX ? What’s your favorite XXXX?

It’s also know as Call-to-action, where you ask questions or ask people to tag others or leave a comment.

For example: @thesvnflwr @ore_k (that’s my Instagram handle, please follow)

2. Personal Captions

Personal captions are a bit more detailed. It’s a great way to connect with people and have a stronger relationship,Like me for instance when I read personal captions, I feel like I know the person a bit better, I’m not insinuating that you put out your deepest and most precious details.

As a matter of fact, if you’re not the type to write personal captions, DON’T . You do not need to force yourself. Do what you’re comfortable with.

For example: @smookie.kins@mindofamaka

3. Short and Fun Captions

Short captions are quick and straight to the point , a lot of people like this. So if you’re not one to write long captions issokay lol

Fun captions(Humor) make your followers laugh/smile that’s also a huge bonus, I mean who doesn’t love a good sense of humor,I’d like to laugh my way into your comment section and spend time there lol

For example:@ore_k @mich.elle.imagery

Quote something a book, poetry, your Bible or Quran,a lyric, a picture, something motivational, something off a cereal box lol, something a stranger said on your bus ride home. Not every time plenty story, Be creative.

For example: @c_oo_kie @thisthingcalledfashionn

5. Emojis

We all love emojis(I’m hoping) I love emojis. Emojis make me know how the conversation is going imagine getting a text like this “Hey 😃” it’s almost like you can see through the persons emotions. So I like to add little “❤️” “😃” to my captions once in a while

For example: @Cornflakes.and.milk

So these are some of the different types of ways to get engagements through captions

Happy Captioning 💕

  1. I’ve always known about only the CTA, thank you for these tips, I’m glad I dropped by, I really do not know emojis are that important, maybe I should start seeing it your way! Thank you.

  2. When it comes to captions the photo pretty much determines the route I take. I believe all captions should always have a CTA so that people will be moved to drop a comment. I’m more of a story teller and quotes person.

    Love the picture collages.

    Well done Ore!

  3. Before now, I did not use to include CTA in my Instagram posts but I joined this Blogger’s Support Group and learnt about this. Ever since I have been including, it has increased my engagement thus far.

I love how you explained this in details with pictorial examples.
